Sofia Machado's first birthday

Last week was Sofia's first birthday and I was honored to be a guest at her party. Joao (Dad) made a fabulous dinner and Melanie (Mom) made a most unique teapot cake. The birthday girl most enjoyed her cake and ate it too! Then she promptly crawled out into the middle of the table and because it was her birthday totally got away with it. She loves playing with cups - forget all the nice gifts, just give her a coffee cup - so she was playing with two, banging them together. Then she reached over, grabbed the creamer and poured it on herself. As you can see by the photo, Barry (Papa, aka Grandfather) and the rest of us found it most charming and completely hilarious.







I'm already Auntie Dar to Sofia, but soon I'll be Auntie to my own niece or nephew. Tomorrow I'm off to photograph my 8 months pregnant sister and my brother-in-law. Watch for those photos next week if they aren't too risque!
