Peru kids need our help!

It is now only 3 weeks until I leave for Peru. I'm very excited to make this trip and now more than ever the people, and especially the kids, of this country need our love and support.

As part of the tour I'm with we will be participating in making lunch and helping give these kids school supplies and shoes that are much needed. Even just $10 will buy 10 kids shoes!

This is the tour I'm going on:
Red Lotus Tours

This is the charity we are working with:
Path of the Heart

How can you resist those faces!

Both are run by amazing women (I know the tour lady and am anxious to meet the other one) that have incredible visions for the world and helping others. I want to try and do my part too.

That's where you come in. I wanted to raise $500 to take with me - I should have that no problem. So now I want $10,000! My boyfriend suggested I think bigger so I am. I don't know how it will come, but I'm putting it out there so it will get passed along and someone that has the money will come to me with it. Your job is to pass this along to everyone you know, and for them to do the same. Eventually it will get to the right person or group and back to me.

So - what are you waiting for, get emailing please!

Thank you!

Newest family session

Here is the Leibel family, photographed in Hawrelak park.

The ducks were in fine form that day and wanted to be included in our photo, so we did. Very brave and tame they are there.

I love it when people feel at home in my house!

I was going to write a blog post on Friday but ran out of time, so of course it was perfect that way cause I wasn't sure what to write about - now I know!

I had a BBQ and get together at my house on Saturday and had the most fabulous response from a friend. I always strive to make people feel comfortable and "at home" in my house. My mom is like that and my grandmother before her too. So I can't help it - it comes naturally. All my friends always called my mother "Mom" too. Now I too can say I've achieved that kind of level.

At the party, a friend was drinking something and I wondered what it was. She said "Organic apple juice. I found it in your fridge and it looked good, so I helped myself" I LOVE that! She got a glass and did so without asking me and I LOVE it! I so love that people feel at home enough here to do that.

My boyfriend Rob has practically moved in already after 4 weeks together and he considers it "our" house too. He came over and cooked himself dinner last night AND did all the dishes from the party too! Now THAT I really like, LOL.

Seriously though, I like that he and my friend don't feel the need ot ask me if they can eat something, drink something, use a glass, etc - in my house. Maybe I just don't like being the servant LOL - but mostly I just know how I feel when I go to my mom's house or my aunt Joyce's house - at home. That's how I want people to feel here and I feel so pleased they do!

Rainy day thoughts

So here it is August 10th, and it is raining and I'm feeling a bit blue today. Is it just me?

Not having my usual energy and pep, must go make myself a green power smoothie - is next on my list after this.

Rob is in the US with some friends right now, and picking up a Jeep and driving it back. So I'm doing my thing as usual, plugging along. Wishing he was going to be here tomorrow for my race and as I was typing this I just got a text message from him wishing he was here too. Isn't that sweet?

I've been active on his Weight Loss forum lately. Is a great place to chat with people, and I feel like I'm helping some with what I've learned and what has worked for me on my journey. If you're so inclined or at least curious, you can see it at:

Rob's Weight Loss Forum

Rob's story is an amazing one. Read about it here: formerfatguy.com - he lost over 300 lbs!

I'm going to start mentioning some things that are close to my heart and if they resonate with you too, check them out. Health and fitness is one of them. In fact I started my own site about it too. Wellness girl - is not nearly done yet but you can see what I've got so far.

If you wanna know more - email me or call!

training for 10k and hiking the Andes in Peru! yeah baby!

Hi all

Okay, so I've beening running for a while now - can pretty easily do a 5km race. Now I have a 10k coming up on the 11th and have to pick it up this week. My running partner Christine keeps me going faster as she is about 5'11" and with my 5'0" legs I really have to boogie to keep up with her slow pace - that's good!

Then in 6 weeks - holy cow - I'm off to South America to Peru for 3 weeks. I'm going as a tour assistant/photographer on a women's retreat, spiritual adventure of sorts. We will see Lima, Cusco, Machu Pichu and dance salsa, eat local fare, feed the homeless and provide school supplies for the kids, do yoga, meditate and just wander and discover things. If you want to see more about the tour - any female is welcome to join us - just go to:

Red Lotus Tours

So I plan to be ready to hike the high altitudes. Already got one Hep shot, going for the second at the end of this month.

Also new in my life is a new guy, Rob. We are spending lots of time together and we are literally twins on so many things it's freaked us out a bit at times. I'm sure you'll be hearing more about him and meet him soon. :-)
